REVA Electric Car Company (RECC) today said it has entered the Costa Rican market with the launch of the REVAi electric car.

''We have received a lot of interest in the REVA from the markets in Central America and the launch in Costa Rica will help drive the REVA into other markets in the region,'' RECC Deputy Chairman & CTO Chetan Maini said in a statement.

The car was officially launched by the Costa Rican President Dr Oscar Arias on March 13, 2009.

Vehiculo Electricos Company will import and distribute the REVA cars in Costa Rica, which aims to be the first carbon neutral country.

REVA is a brand of Bangalore-based REVA Electric Car Company, which is as a joint venture between Maini Group of India and AEV LLC of California.
