| Country's second largest bike manufacturer Bajaj Auto today said said it will add 130 new dealerships in the country, taking the total number to more than 600 to further expand its customer reach with special focus on smaller towns and cities. The company also said that it will invest Rs 18 crore to further enhance the service standards of its about 1,100 service centers. ''While the Discover growth in terms of volumes and market share has been outstanding the next big boost will come from increasing the share in these towns and in rural India which account for more than 50 per cent sales of this category,'' said Bajaj Auto (Motorcycle Business) President S Sridhar. ''These new dealerships will help the company to increase the share this model in the smaller towns which are today inadequately catered to by only the secondary network,'' he added. The dealership expansion would also create 7,000 new jobs in the country, the Pune based auto company said in a statement. ''We are also simultaneously upgrading our service centers to enhance the quality standards required to support the advanced technology used in Discover and Pulsar. Around 1,100 service centers are being upgraded at an investment of more than Rs 18 crore to enhance the service standards in these markets as well,'' Mr Sridhar said. |
