Country's largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero Honda Motors Ltd (HHML) today said its sales for the month of October surged by 42.74 per cent to 5,05,553 units as compared to 3,54,156 units in the corresponding period last year.

''This is for the first time that the company has reported sales of over half a million two-wheelers in just one month,'' a company statement said.

The previous record of highest-ever monthly sales was in May this year when Hero Honda had sold 4,35,933 units. ''Sales of over five lakh units in a month with a 42.7 per cent growth over the large base of the previous year is a testimony to the winning strategy that we have been following over the past few years,'' said Hero Honda Motors Ltd Sr Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua.

During the last six months, the company has launched 6 two wheelers which is a mix of new models, variants and refreshes.

''The company has been on a record sales run of over four lakh units each month since May, capping it off with the 5-lakh plus mark in October. Going forward, we are hopeful of continuing the momentum by staying true to the same winning strategy,'' Mr Dua said.
