Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, country s largest car
manufacturer, today unveiled the all new Swift in both petrol and diesel
variant with a introductory price of upto Rs 6.38 lakh ex showroom Delhi.
Built on an all new platform, the new Swift is longer and wider than its
redecessor, the company said in a statement. The company has priced its
petrol car variant between Rs 4.22 lakh to Rs.5.53 lakh while the
diesel-powered vehicle has been priced between Rs 5.17 lakh to Rs 6.38 all
ex showroom Delhi. The company said it has adopted several new weight
reduction techniques for an enhanced power to weight ratio in the new
Swift. The company has invested over Rs 550 crore in new car and it has
over 95 per cent of localised parts, it said. The interiors of the car
come with multi-layered dash board with a waterfall console, chrome usage
on air conditioner vent knobs, door handles and a multi-information LCD
display for fuel efficient, temperature and trip-time, it said. Speaking
at the launch, Mr Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti
Suzuki said, We have launched the new Swift at a time when there was
significant demand for the outgoing model. I am confident that the new
Swift will create new benchmarks with its improved fuel efficiency,
stylish and sportier looks and high performance. The new Swift comes with
improved fuel efficiency and best-in-class acceleration with a fuel
efficiency at 18.6 kmpl. Swift s first model was launched in India in 2005
powered with a petrol engine. The diesel version was launched in 2007.
