| Tata Motors Jan sales up 15 pc at 75,423 units

| Tata Motors today said its total sales grew by 15 per cent at 75,423 vehicles in January 2011 as compared to 65,478 vehicles in the same month last year. The company's domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for January 2011 were 70,475 units, up 13 per cent over 62,202 units sold in January last year. The company's sales of commercial vehicles in January 2011 in the domestic market were 40,263 units, a 12 per cent growth as compared to 35,957 vehicles sold in the same month year ago, the firm said in a statement. Light commercial vehicles (LCV) sales were 23,776 units, up 17 per cent over January last year, while medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales grew by five per cent at 16,487 units. The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 32,386 units in the domestic market in January 2011, higher by 14 per cent compared to 28,460 units in January last year. Sales of the Tata Nano were 6,703 units, recording a growth of 68 per cent over January last year. The Indica range sales were 10,591 units, lower by 8 per cent, while Indigo range recorded sales of 8,456 units, a growth of 17 per cent over January last year. The Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ Venture range accounted for sales grew by 26 per cent at 4,462 units. The company's exports stood at 4,948 vehicles in January 2011, registering a growth of 51 per cent over 3,276 units in January last year. |
