Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today announced the launch of its supersports car the 'Audi R8 5.2 FSI' priced at Rs 1,32,49,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra).

The new car is propelled by a powerful V10 quattro engine and built using the lightweight Audi Space Frame (ASF) design, a company statement said.

The new Audi R8 V10 goes from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 316 km/h, it added. The Audi R8 5.2 FSI will be available with a manual six-speed transmission or R tronic which enables the driver to change gears in an instant via rocker switches on the steering wheel, it said. ''We are confident that the Audi R8 V10 will help us consolidate our leadership position in the super sports car segment in India and replicate the success we enjoy in the luxury SUV segment with the Audi Q7,'' said Audi India Head Michael Perschke.

In 2010, Audi sold 3003 units, exceeding targets to achieve a growth of 81 per cent.

The company is also focused at strengthening its dealer network across India with the forthcoming openings of showrooms in Delhi and Ludhiana. Last year, it had inaugurated showrooms in Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Bengaluru.
