Lamborghini SpA, an Italian luxury sports carmaker, today launched Aventador
LP700-4 in India at a price of Rs 3.69 crore, and plans to sell 40 units
in the fast growing domestic market by next year. The car is powered by
a 12-cylinder, the 6.5-litre engine and is among the world s fastest cars.
The Aventador, which uses the same carbon materials that are used in the
Boeing 787 Dreamliner, can touch a top speed of up to 350 km per hour.
We see great potential for sports cars in the emerging markets like India...This
year, we expect to sell around 20 cars, company Marketing Manager (South-East
Asia and Pacific) James Page told media persons here at the launch. The
car, priced at Rs 3.69 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), will be imported from
Italy. Mr Page said though volumes are very small in the premium sports
car market in India which is at around 100 units a year, sales are beginning
to pick up. He added that the company plans to double sales in India by
next year. The car, which was launched globally in March this year, has
received 1,500 orders worldwide so far, he said. Mr Page said the waiting
period in India will be around 18 months. It will be sold through Lamborghini
s sole dealer in India, Exclusive Motors. Lauding the successful Formula
1 race event recently held in India, Mr Page said Lamborghini is planning
to conduct owner-training programmes on the Formula 1 track. You will
be definitely seeing us there (on the F1 track). In the past, we used
to take our Indian customers to Europe, but we can do it here now, Mr
Page said.
