Hero MotoCorp unveils "Leap", expects double-digit growth in FY13

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world s largest two-wheeler maker, today unveiled hybrid concept scooter Leap at the Auto Expo, and expects a double-digit sales growth during the next financial year. The company, which is enhancing its research and development (R&D) capabilities, is currently developing this hybrid technology to bring environment-friendly two-wheelers in the country. The Leap was unveiled here by Hero MotoCorp Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Pawan Munjal. It is indeed a leap into the future in terms of our ability to bring technologically superior products in keeping with global standards, Mr Munjal said. Though the product is currently at a concept stage, he said the company intends to take it forward to be able to produce it commercially in the near future. The Leap runs on petrol and also on battery. Mr Munjal said the company has applied for three international technology patents and nine international design registrations. Asked about the sales performance in the next financial year, Mr Munjal said, We are very bullish for the company and I believe we will continue to grow in double digits. On Wednesday, Hero MotoCorp launched three new models--the 110cc passion X Pro, the 110cc scooter Maestro and the 125 cc bike Ignitor.
