Volkswagen launches the powerful and efficient New Polo GT TSI for the Indian Market

Volkswagen India Private Limited, a completely owned subsidiary of the German auto maker, has launched the much awaited Polo GT TSI on April 29, 2013 for Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Interestingly, not only do the petrol and diesel engines provide a more spirited performance on the road than the previous 1.6 version, but these are also more fuel efficient. In addition, a new cutting edge 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) has been installed in this powerful hatchback. This new version of the Polo is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged TSI engine paired with seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The Polo GT TSI is technologically the most advanced car in the segment with direct-injection petrol unit; it develops 105PS and 175Nm – that is more than 103PS and 153Nm build by the 1.6-litre petrol engine of the Vento. The ARAI fuel efficiency is 17.2kpl with high octane fuel, but the efficiency will be slightly lower with the 91 Octane fuel available across India.
There are hardly any changes to the exteriors of the new variant apart from new GT grille, 15-inch Estrada alloy-wheels and GT TSI badging to the side and rear. The hot-hatch is based on the top-end variant and has features like Climatronic air conditioning, steering mounted audio control, two-DIN music system with USB, AUX-in, SD card slot and Bluetooth connectivity. The safety features include ESP, ABS, dual-airbags and Hill Hold function.
