today launched the much awaited, stunning and powerful roadster the
SLK 55 AMG. The SLK 55 AMG with its distinctively sporty looks, an inspirational
sporty architecture combined with the trademark power packed performance
of its naturally aspirated V8 AMG engine, promises an adrenaline gushing
driving experience with unparalleled luxury and safety levels. The SLK
55 AMG embodies luxury as well as trend setting performance driving
experience and underscores the sporty and performance aspects of Brand
Mercedes-Benz.

Leadership in technology reflected in sportiness and design:
The SLK 55 boasts of sleek lines and shapely contours demonstrating
its supremacy with a bolder look. With symmetrically arranged headlamps
and bumpers, the contours of the car invoke the car’s all powerful character.
From the side and front, the car is sculpted to rise and glide like
a powerful machine, exuding its lively, sporty presence. With authentic
sporty trimmings, sweeping lines and stylish seating mechanisms, the
interiors of the SLK 55 AMG have been intricately crafted to offer the
pinnacle of luxury and comfort.
Ingenious material mix and high levels of safety
Designers and engineers have integrated new age technology with stylish
designs in the SLK 55 AMG. Safety is an important benchmark for every
Mercedes vehicle. The SLK 55 AMG has achieved the much coveted 5 stars
in the Euro NCAP Crash Rating making it the epitome of safety. SLK 55
AMG makes use of a host of latest assistance systems supporting the
driver; these include the drowsiness detection system ATTENTION ASSIST
which predicts the level of driver attentiveness to provide an early
warning of driver fatigue. The parking guidance system PARKTRONIC aids
in representing the recommended parking manoeuver. Other standard safety
features in the SLK 55 AMG include PRE SAFE and ADAPTIVE BRAKE with
ABS and ASR.
The signature style quotient continues with AMG carbon fibre trim and
designo leather upholstery. The SLK 55 AMG roadster features COMMAND
ONLINE six DVD changer and Harmon Kardon surround sound music system
clubbed with ambient lighting in the cockpit along with the AMG performance
steering wheel giving the roadster a serious sporty edge. The car also
comes with a memory package including 4-way lumbar support and a seat
belt in black.
Exteriors
The exteriors are sure to catch one’s attention with the standard AMG
18 inch 10 spoke alloy wheels painted in matte black whose sporty looks
is further accentuated by the attractive silver brake calipers. The
Bi-xenon headlamps with Intelligent Light System clubbed with the Adaptive
Brake Light flashing and the active bonnet further enhance the exquisiteness
of this roadster. The SLK 55 AMG features panoramic vario-roof with
Magic Sky Control which is Mercedes-Benz’s statement of leadership in
technological advancement, yet again. The third generation of the SLK
family offers its driver a never before advantage as this meticulous
design marvel transforms the SLK 55 AMG roadster into a coupé
at the touch of a button. This glass roof switches to light or dark
as required at the press of a button; when light it is virtually transparent,
offering an open-air experience even in cold weather. In its dark state
the roof provides welcome shade and prevents the interior from heating
up when the sun’s rays are very intense. In other words: a feel-good
atmosphere at the touch of a button. The illuminated AMG door sills
add to the luxurious feel.
Engine and Transmission:
The SLK 55 AMG is powered by a top-of-line V8 engine that produces an
adrenaline pumping 421 hp@6800rpm with 540 Nm of torque@4500 rpm and
is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission. The sizzling
roadster sprints 0-100 km in 4.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 250
km/hr promising its occupants a ride to remember. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT
PLUS 7G TRONIC transmission offers 3 drive modes—Controlled Efficiency,
Sports and Manual. The turntable draught stop AIRGUIDE ensures a comfortable
ride during open-top motoring and is a unique feature in the roadster
segment; it effectively protects the driver and passenger from draughts.
The eco start/stop function in the SLK 55 AMG reduces fuel consumption
and emission by switching off the engine automatically when the car
comes to a stop. Besides this the SLK 55 AMG also features pedestrian
safety features like Active Bonnet.
The AMG touch
The SLK 55 AMG features the AMG Handling package which comprises AMG
rear axle differential lock, AMG High Performance Braking System, AMG
Performance steering wheel with nappa leather/Alcantara® inserts
in the grip areas. The SLK 55 AMG also features front and rear aprons,
side skirting, mesh grille, ventilated and perforated disc brakes, AMG
Sports Suspension, designo leather upholstery, 18-inch AMG alloy wheels
and the AMG sports exhaust. To improve handling and responsiveness,
the regular brakes and steering are upgraded to AMG High Performance
Braking System and AMG Performance Steering Wheel, AMG rear axle differential
locks and AMG Direct-Steer system.
The SLK 55 AMG is priced at Rs 1.26 crores ex-showroom New Delhi
The 2014 edition of SLK 350 is priced at Rs 71.9 lakhs (ex-showroom
Delhi) and the CLS 350 is priced at Rs. 99.90 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi)
