by 2015

Like other carmakers, Ford India also sees huge potential in the developing Indian auto market to further enhance its business. In an aggressive product and development plans, the American automaker is aiming to launch at least 4 new products by the mid of this decade. Earlier, the company announced to have 8 new cars in India, out of which four already introduced including EcoSport. Ford at present is revelling in the sales of the EcoSport,
so much so that it is being loaded with complaints of coming with long
waiting periods. Now, the company is also looking for ways to reduce
these periods as this is cutting into their sales. For now, bookings
of the EcoSport have been suspended. So Ford is planning to replicate
their recent success with a new small car. The compact car segment contributes
over 70 percent of all passenger vehicle sales in the country. Currently, Ford has only the Figo in the compact car segment in India. "Mass segment is very important and we continue to look at the small car segment in India. We follow 'One Ford' policy for Ford globally and we have announced some concepts earlier,” added Piparsania. The company had earlier announced the launch of eight products in India and four of them have already hit the roads, he added. He said the company is on track to launch the remaining four models within the announced time frame. So, the four new products from Ford India could be a compact hatch, new Endeavour, 2015 Figo and a new car- either a compact sedan or a premium hatchback. |
