Mercedes-Benz B-Class diesel launched for Rs 22.6lakhs

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the B-Class at Rs 22.6lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The B180 CDI gets a 2.2-litre Diesel engine that produces 107bhp and 250bhp of torque. This engine comes mates to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The engine is mated with seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission system with paddle shifters. The machine is capable of reaching the top speed of 190kmph. The vehicle delivers a decent 19kmpl mileage.

Unlike the petrol B180 and B180 Sports variant, B-Class diesel version is a single styled version which overlooked features like 17 inch alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlamps, panoramic sunroof, LED daytime running lamps. These omissions have led to reduced price of the variant. Standard safety features will be there like ABS with EBD, 7 airbags, Acceleration Skid regulation, ESP, Hill Start Assist, Attention Assist, Hill hold and adaptive brakes. The car will be available in four elegant colors; white, silver, red and grey.

Inside the car there is COMMAND multimedia infotainment system, ECO Start-stop system and cruise control. The B-Class Sports Tourer diesel is termed as an entry level version by Mercedes Benz India to boost the sales volumes. The closest rival being considered is V40 Cross Country launched last month. Mercedes Benz India has probably launched the fifth car since the beginning of this year and hoping to dethrone Audi from the top spot.
