Mercedes-Benz launches the new sedan E-Class at a starting price of Rs 41.50 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India today further consolidated its product offensive for the Indian market and launched the ‘most sought after luxury executive sedan in its segment’, the new E-Class. A comprehensively modernized E-Class with new efficient engine, new Intelligence Assistant Systems and a new design idiom, adds more dynamism and sportiness to the most popular luxury sedan in its segment. Creating a new benchmark in terms of design idioms, comfort, safety and efficiency, the new E-Class was launched by Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented on the launch of the new E-Class, “The new E-Class with its blend of stunning new design idiom, pioneering Intelligence Assistance Systems, exemplary safety and comfort features, luxurious appointments and best in class modern range of infotainment systems, creates a whole new benchmark in the luxury full-size segment. With more than 2000 parts and components used, the new E-Class undoubtedly is the ‘Best E-Class ever’ and reiterates Mercedes-Benz’s prowess as the pioneers of technical innovations towards safety, design, performance and comfort. Its new emotive design reinforced with the Intelligence Assistance Systems, reaffirms the E-Class’ position as the most sought after luxury sedan in its segment. The new E-Class is a completely high-tech package–and a very attractively packaged one at that”.

Underscoring the importance of the new E-Class in Mercedes-Benz India’s product portfolio, Mr. Eberhard Kern further elaborated, “The E-Class has been the most successful vehicle for Mercedes-Benz globally with more than 11 million units sold. In India too, the E-Class has been the most sold luxury sedan ever and hence, is a very important product in our portfolio, playing a vital role in the product strategy of Mercedes-Benz India.

Exterior: The new front-end design and the modifications are in line with the Mercedes-Benz’s all new design philosophy. It reinterprets the classical design values of the brand by infusing emotionally appealing contours to make the car a class act. The result is a superior, refined and sporty appearance. The front of the new E-Class has been completely revised with new single headlamps. The fascinating full LED headlamps are available for the first time in the new E-Class. The radiator with central Star, introduced for the first time in the E-Class, lends an independent and sportier front-end look.

Interiors: The new E-Class comes with high quality appointments. A new interior trim line ‘open pore ash wood trim’ on the dashboard is a first in the luxury sedan segment in India. The special treated brushed open pore oakwood gives the new E-Class a modern and stylish ambiance. Brushed oakwood has a natural matt finish and is used for contemporary high end furniture and interiors. A high-quality silver chrome frame, the ambient lighting beneath the dashboard trim and the four door trim strips, augments the mood inside the E-Class altogether. The memory seats with lumbar support raise the comfort level inside the car.

Fuel Efficiency: The fuel efficiency of the new E-Class 200 CGI petrol has been enhanced by 8% to 13.8 kmpl, making it best in class; while the torque has been increased by 15 nm. The new E 200 CGI four cylinder petrol engine with direct injection, variable valve control and turbo charging boasts better output and torque. The multiple direct petrol injection with fast-switching piezo injectors optimizes air/fuel mixture, facilitating complete fuel combustion. Reduced engine weight plus the lower internal friction also contributes to lower emissions and higher fuel efficiency. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission provide significant advantages in terms of efficiency. The use of torsion damper ensures comfortable vehicle operation even at lower engine speeds. This lowers engine speeds without compromising comfort and contributes to fuel economy.

The price of the new E 200 CGI (Petrol) is Rs. 41.50 lakh and the price of E 250 CDI Avantgarde (Diesel) is Rs 44.48 lakh. There are also 100 units of limited edition of E 250 CDI priced at Rs 49.90 lakh. All Prices are ex-Showroom Delhi.
