Ford India, the wholly-owned Indian subsidiary of American giant Ford, has launched a limited edition model of the Classic. This model is based on the Classic CLXi variant, and is available in petrol as well as diesel models. CLXi is the middle variant of the Classic sedan, and what the limited edition version does is offer extra frills, some of which feature on the top-of-the-line Titanium variant of the car.
The Classic Limited Edition has a bunch of new additions. Of them, the most notable additions are a new chrome grille and front fog lamps. Other added features include 14-inch alloy wheels, a chrome-colored rear number-plate garnish, a rear spoiler housed on the boot lid and new premium seat covers. Also introduced are reverse parking sensors, reading lamps, and a height- modifiable driver’s seat. Ford has played it safe by releasing the vehicle with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.6 litre petrol engine is capable of generating 101 bhp at 6,500 rpm with 146nm of peak torque at 3.500 rpm. The 1.4 litre diesel engine generates 67 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 160 nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels for both engine variants through a five-speed manual transmission system. Prices of the Ford Classic range between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 7.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel and petrol models.
