| FIAT inaugurates state-of-the-art Stockyard
at Ranjangaon

Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL) today inaugurated its
first state-of-the-art stockyard at Ranjangaon, Pune. The stockyard, designed
and constructed by FIAT’s logistics partner Mercurio Pallia, is spread
across a huge area of 12 acres within the Ranjangaon Industrial premises
and in close proximity to FIAT’s manufacturing plant. The stockyard has
the capacity to house 2000 cars at any given point of At the onset, the stockyard will cater to the incumbent
Fiat Linea and Fiat Punto models. In due course of time it will store
cars from the FIAT and the Chrysler group as and when they are introduced
in the Indian market. The stockyard has been developed adhering to the safety, security and environmental requirements of the FIAT group. Robert DeCrick (Head-SCM, APAC FIAT Chrysler) added, “The development of this stockyard is in alignment with the Group’s strategy to replicate its’ global perational standards. Our objective here is to establish a modern, high quality distribution facility which will support our plan to provide a high level of service to our dealers and customers. The facility has round the clock security supported with CCTV surveillance system for better safety of cars and people. The system has been designed with high mast lighting systems to avoid minimum interference in storage area and there by optimizing storage with utmost safety considerations. In order to conduct quality checks to maintain global standards, the facility has state of the art PDI booth along with necessary tools and equipments to ensure cars getting dispatched are inspected for 100% quality before being loaded into the car carrier. The stock yard also is equipped with proper storm water drainage system and water harvesting to keep the facility water neutral and help the environment.
