BMW reveals 5-Series facelift
World's leading luxury carmaker, BMW has now revealed a facelifted version of its most successful executive sedan, the 5-Series, which is in its six generation now. As a part of the sixth generation F10 5-Series’ midlife makeover, BMW has also introduced a new entry-level diesel variant, called the 518d. As one would expect, the facelifted 5-Series receives minor updates in the form of a vaguely revised front-end. Although the redesigned front bumper and wider kidney grille do lift up the presence of the 5-Series, not much seems to have changed when it comes to the body shell. As for the rear-end, here too the changes are minimal with a redesigned bumper and a new set of exhaust pipes. Overall, the mildly updated exterior design is intended to make the 5-Series more appealing than ever.
The biggest addition, though, is to be found under the hood. BMW has added a new variant in the form of the 518d which gets a detuned version of the existing 2-litre turbocharged diesel engine found in the 520d. While the engine in the 520d puts out 180PS of power, the power output has been dropped to around 140PS in this new 518d variant. As for the rest of the engine range, BMW has tweaked the entire lineup so as to meet Euro6 emission norms. Additionally, the facelifted 5-Series range gets fuel-saving trickeries such as brake-energy regeneration, stop-start feature and Eco Pro driving mode. |
