After Volkswagen, sister brands Skoda and Audi have
followed suit in car recalls over faults in popular models.
The German car giant has recalled 2.6 million cars, one-third in China,
over potential fuel leaks and trouble in models fitted with its seven-speed
dual-clutch automatic transmission including popular Golf and Polo models.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the three brands were part
of a recall for the same transmission in June that affected more than
30,000 cars in Australia.
A spokeswoman for Audi said that it will be conducting a voluntary
recall of affected customers, but did not specify which model were part
of the recall, though it is likely that some petrol-powered models of
the previous-generation A3 Sportback would be part of it.
Meanwhile, Skoda's transmission oil recall involves less than 30 cars,
the report added
