Caterham AeroSeven concept revealed
at Singapore Grand Prix
|
Caterham has finally unveiled their latest AeroSeven concept at the SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. This will be the company’s first concept ever to be fitted with a traction control system. Due to the newly developed Caterham Engine Management System, the drivers will get to enjoy the launch control and fully adjustable traction functionality. With 12 races already run in the 2013 Formula 1 season, Caterham has not scored a single point, which means it occupies the lowest rung in the ladder together with Marussia. Maybe the British team needs some lucky charm. And so, at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, Caterham has unveiled a concept car called the AeroSeven, which is based heavily on the team's F1 car--hence the carbon-fiber body panels and the green paint job. The AeroSeven is said to be capable of reaching 100kph from rest in under four seconds, thanks to a highly capable 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ford Duratec engine that produces 237hp and 206Nm. Power-to-weight ratio has been estimated to be at a very impressive 400hp per ton. The interiors are very to-the-point as this car has been built for a single purpose; to go very fast. It two racing buckets, six point harness and an F1-style all functions on the steering and a centrally mounted high resolution display to provide various bits of information about the car. |
