Hero MotoCorp's August sales up 4 percent

Two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp Monday reported a four percent growth in August sales at 459,996 from 443,801 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

"Registering growth in both retail as well as despatch sales despite weak market sentiments has come about due to several initiatives undertaken in recent times," Anil Dua, senior vice-president, marketing and sales, Hero MotoCorp, said in a statement.

"Overall customer sentiment is not upbeat, but some segments like the 125cc and scooters are witnessing better growth. Going forward, the industry expects sales to pick up further on account of the good monsoon and the festive season."

In August, the company launched operations in Peru. It had launched operations in Kenya, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast in Africa in July.

nt issued here, the company said it sold 11,065 units last month as against 10,352 units sold in August 2012.

In the domestic market, the company sold 8,008 units last month, compared to 7,840 units sold in August 2012.

The company exported 3,057 vehicles in August this year, compared to 2,512 units in the same month last year, recording a growth of 22 percent.
