Maruti SX4 S Cross unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo

The car shown today in a Black color comes with features such as Suzuki's ALLGRIP 4WD system and a double sliding glass sunroof. MarutiBSE -0.27 % also points out that the S-Cross is rated 5-stars by the Euro NCAP for its crash safety protection.

Internationally, the S-Cross is available with a petrol and a diesel engine. The 1.6-litre petrol motor outputs 120 PS at 6,000 rpm and 156 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The petrol motor is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels in case of the 2WD model and all four wheels on the AWD model.

The diesel engine in question is Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine producing 120 PS at 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. It comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, available in 2WD and 4WD specs.

The SX4 S-Cross is reported to launch in India early next year. An earlier newspaper report indicated that Maruti would import Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet engine to power the diesel variants of the crossover.

Interiors of the all new SX4 S Cross displays the premium upholstery and even the dash-board look quite neat with the modest designing. This crossover is speculated to come powered two efficient engines, hopefully the 1.3 Litre Fiat Multi-jet Diesel engine and 1.4 Litre. It is anticipated to be launched in the Indian auto market by mid of 2014

The hood of this crossover whiz becomes slightly sleek and curvy edges right above the headlamps give it a sporty stance. The grace of the roof is raised up by the sporty aluminium roof rails and side profile showcases the aluminium cladding, chrome handles, wing mirrors with turn indicators and giant alloy wheels.
