Ford Mustang launched in India for Rs 65 lakh

Auto major Ford launched its iconic Ford Mustang first time in India, priced at Rs 65 Lakh -Ex-Showroom, Delhi.

Ford's Mustang will go on sale in Delhi and Mumbai only in its first phase, a company statement said.

The vibrant vehicle portfolio, the new Mustang is equipped with a 5.0L V8 petrol engine, churning out a massive 401 PS of peak power, it added.

"In our commitment to building a car for everyone, there's never been a better time for Ford to introduce this iconic car and offer the youngest ever product line-up to customers in India," said Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, marketing,sales and service, Ford India.

"The arrival of the Mustang will shine a bright light on the blue oval along with the rest of the Ford range and will help us demonstrate our potential,''he added.

Since the Mustang first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than nine million vehicles worldwide.

In its first year of global availability including in RHD markets, Ford Mustang became the world's best-selling sports coupe. According to registration data from IHS Automotive, Ford sold around 1,10,000 Mustang Coupes globally in 2015 - topping all other competitors.

Ford will bring Mustang for customers in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States.

"The way Mustang looks, drives and sounds is key to the visceral experience that makes drivers just want to get in the driver's seat and hit the road. The new Mustang is modern, technologically advanced and forward-looking, without forgetting the heritage that has inspired customers for generations," said Mr Mehrotra.

The new Ford Mustang features 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, 9-speaker surround sound system, and voice-enabled SYNC 2 connectivity with an 8-inch colour touchscreen as standard equipment.

The new vehicle is available in six colour options - Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Oxford White, Triple Yellow Tricoat, Magnetic and the signature Race Red - Mustang promises world-class levels of performance and refinement while embracing the it's half-century of heritage and status as a global automotive icon,the company added.
