Swedish automaker Volvo Cars launched the 2017 Volvo V40 Cross Country in India.

Swedish luxury car company Volvo India (VI) is targetting to increase its sales by double units than the current financial year sale of 1600 units, a top official of the company said.

Talking to reporters after launching Volvo cars V40 and V40 Cross country here at a function, Volvo Auto India Managing Director Tom Von Bondsdorff said ''the company is planning to increase its sale by double units than the current financial year sale of 1600 units.''

Though the company had expected a growth of 25 per cent in the current year, the demonetisation restricted to just ten per cent only, he said.

However, the company did not viewed that it was a permanent phenomena, Mr Tom said that it would overcome soon and correspondingly the sale would also go up.

Last year the company had posted a growth of 10 per cent than the previous year, even as the sale fell down because of the demonetisation, he added.

Regarding the sale in Kerala, he said the state had a good market and ten per cent of the total sales in the country is from Kerala and in last year around 160 units was sold in Kerala.

Besides Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had good market for Volvo cars, he claimed.

Earlier, the chick Volvo V40 and the V40 and V40 Cross Country cars was launched in Kerala, along with the 3S (sales, service and spares) facility here.

 

Launching the product, Mr Tom said that '' the launch of V40 and V40 cross country today along with the new 3S facility in the heart of Kochi emphasises our commitment to garner 10 per cent segment share in the medium term.''
