Mercedes-Benz launches India`s first BS VI compliant car, prices start at Rs 1.33 cr

Luxury Car Major, Mercedes-Benz has launchedthe S-Class in India and prices for the car start fromRs 1.33 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) for the S350 d diesel variant and Rs 1.37 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) for the S 450 petrol variant. The new S-Class 350 d is India's first 'BS VI compliant- Made inIndia, for India', vehicle with a state-of-the-art diesel enginethat meets BS VI emission norms, two years ahead of the regulation.

This engine is capable of running on currently available BS IV fuelas well. The company's flagship model is produced at the Chakanfacility in Pune which is the only plant outside of Europe thatproduces the S-Class. In the exterior, the facelifted car differs from the pre-faceliftwith its new headlamps and tail lamps along with the new front andrear bumpers. The facelift S-Class also gets a new set of wheels ascompared to the older car. On the interior, the S-Class getstypically well-made interiors with two new 12.3-linch highdefinition screens that make up the infotainment and the centralcommand unit. The S-Class also gets wood options for interior trimand leather options for the seats and the side panels. The newS-Class even gets new seats with a new fragrance function along withthe obvious cooled, heated and massaging options.

The S-Class facelift also comes with the latest generation ofradar-based driving assistance systems that reduce the risk ofaccidents and enhance the protection of occupants as well as otherroad users.

The new S-Class brings together luxury, design and technology thatmeet the highest standards of perfection, surpassing expectationsfor a vehicle of this class."The S-Class will be made available in both petrol anddiesel powertrains. The OM 656 engine used in the S 350 d is themost powerful passenger car diesel engine designed by Mercedes-BenzIndia; the inline-six cylinder motor delivers an output of 282 bhpand develops 600 Nm of peak torque. 0-100 kmph is done in just 6seconds. The new engine is also designed to comply with futureemissions legislation.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes with new inline 6 cylinderengines The cabin has been completely revamped and there's Apple CarPlay andAndroid Auto On Offer Over and above the multifold safety features that come as standard,the new S-Class comes with optional safety technology: a newradar-based driving assistance system which reduce the risk ofaccidents and enhance the protection of occupants as well as otherroad users, and of course, can take the strain off the driver withinthe respective system limits. The Active Distance Assist controls the distance to vehicles infront up to a speed of 210 kmph and if necessary brakes the vehiclewith up to 50 per cent of the maximum braking power. The ActiveSteering Assist speeds up to 210 kmph and helps the driver keep thevehicle in the centre of its lane on straight stretches of road orslight bends. The Ative Braking Assist applies the emergency brakingfunction which can help to avoid or lessen the consequences ofaccidents with vehicles in front and pedestrians. Finally, there'sBlind Spot Assist which can warn the driver of vehicles in the blindspot during a lane change.
