Fiat India Automobiles, the world’s leading auto manufacturer has launched its new milestone Grand Punto in India. This latest premium hatchback is available in three engine options - the 1.4-litre FIRE Petrol, 1.3-litre MultiJet Diesel and 1.2-litre petrol. Its new features, advanced technology and aggressive styling made it the recipient of award such as ‘Car of the Year 2008’; Autocar Magazine's Coveted Design Award and has been certified with EURO NCAP 5 ratings in Europe. Grand Punto is introduced in India as a joint venture between Italian passenger car manufacturer and Indian auto maker Tata Motors.
The car is available in four variants - the Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Emotion Pack. The engine is well known for its good functioning and offers a most enjoyable drive in hatchback segment. The Fully Integrated Robotized Engine (FIRE) and MULTIJET engines exhibit splendid performance even in low fuel consumption. The 1.2 litre petrol is available in Active and generates maximum power of 68 Bhp at 6500 rpm and maximum torque of 96 Nm at 2500 rpm. The 1.4 litre petrol engine is available in Dynamic, Emotion & Emotion Pack and generates 90 Bhp at 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 115 Nm at 4500 rpm. The 1.3 litre multijet diesel engine is available in Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Emotion Pack and generates 76 Bhp at 4000 rpm with maximum torque of 197 Nm at 1750 rpm. All the three power engines are matched to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Smooth and dynamic exterior, vibrant front and powerful imposing wheel arches make it a truly stylish car in hatchback segment. The body coloured well-rounded bumpers in the rear end of the Punto gives a muscular look. The headlights that positioned over the wheel arches, gives it a fresh and cute look. A wide tailgate indicates the vast cargo space in the boot.
With 3987mm length, the Punto appears to be very spacious and perfectly designed. It offers spacious seating for five adults. High class and quality interior accessories like comfortable seats of fine quality fabric, stylish dashboard, impressive instrument panel, the dual-zone automatic climate control, Electrically adjustable outside rear view mirror, parking sensors, a powerful 6-speaker Interscope Sound System, and Blue&Me, are the comfort and convenience features that comprise in Punto.
When it comes to safety, the car is well equipped with all features such as: ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), Airbags, central locking, child lock, Power Door Locks, Anti-Theft Alarm, Front and Rear Seat Belts, Seat Belts Warning, Front and Side Impact Beams. At a very competitive price, a car with all these safety equipments is rare to have. So far, Grande Punto delivers fuel efficiency of 9km/l on the petrol engines and 12 km/l on diesel engines.
The colours available are: Bossa Nova White, Hip Hop Black, Minimal Grey, Medium Grey, Exotica Red and Electric Blue. The Grande Punto will be available in India with a price of 3.99 to 6.11 Lakhs according to the variants. The diesel and petrol versions offer a good blend of sufficient power and fuel economy. It is a perfect car to take out for a pleasure driving in city.
