Nissan Teana, is the second modern luxury car launched in India by Nissan Motors after X-trail SUV. The appealing points of Teana are its modern luxurious interior, balanced proportion and riding comfort. The manufacturer claims that the Teana’s interior and exterior have been designed specially aiming the Indian road conditions and the needs of consumers. The leather seats are comfortable and promises relaxation. Teana uses a triple safety philosophy taking into account factors on information safety, control safety and impact safety.
The other attractive feature of the Teana is the intelligent lock system, which allows the owner to open and close the vehicle and start the ignition without removing the key from their pocket. One can unlock the car and start the engine simply by pushing buttons as long they have the Nissan Intelligence Card Key with them. Safety measures include airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, dual front pretensioner seatbelts, three rear 3-point seatbelts and a VDC (vehicle dynamic control) programme that automatically controls engine output and braking power on each wheel to help keep the car steady under demanding conditions. The electronics immobiliser, a part of the engine control unit prevents the car from being started unless it recognizes signals from a transponder in the key and thus protects from theft.
A 2.3 litre VQ23DE petrol engine mated to a four speed automatic transmission, powers Teana. The VQ23DE engine produces max power of 125kw (170ps) and torque of 224N.m (22.8kgm). Nissan’s VQ23DE engine is part of the VQ engine series, which has been recognized as one of the 'Ten Best Engines' by Ward’s Auto World magazine for 13 years in a row. Teana’s quiet engine together with the spaciousness of the passenger cabin afforded by the car's size, plus the independent suspension at the front and rear with stabilizer bars, results in excellent ride quality for all occupants.
